On Wednesday evening 12 October OASIS hosted its long-established annual Inter-Office Quiz Night. 11 teams participated and answered 4 sets of 20 questions. After each set the answers were given out to many “oohs” and “aahs” and lots of laughter! As usual our Quizmaster, Ben Williams, had set questions which covered a very broad spectrum of general knowledge. Pictures of the winning teams appear below in the following order:
1st Prize: Standard Life with a score of 55. Team Name: “National Bank of Vietnam". Team Members: Nigel Gray (Captain), David Bell, David Martin and John Robertson.
2nd Prize: Turcan Connell with a score of 48. Team Members: Kirsty Johnson (Captain), Mark McKeown, Neil Wilson and Simon Mayberry.
3rd Prize Equal: 2 Teams from the Church of Scotland offices both with scores of 47. Team Name: “Universally Challenged”. Team Members: Ian Whyte (Captain), Marjorie Clarke, Tom Baldwin and A N Other and Team Name: “1 to 1”. Team Members: Lin McMillan (Captain), Bob Cowan, Pauline Weibye and Cameron Brooks.

“Hymns and Hearse”. Team Members: Elizabeth Scott (Captain), Morton, Kevin and Diane.
Booby Prize: Fresh Start, Team Name: “3 plates and a mug”, Team Members: Dorienne (Captain), Brian Wilson, Sid Stewart and Lesley Gordon.
We are very grateful to supporters of the Home Restaurant by Maison Bleue for donating the 1st Prize of lunch to the value of £200, to W T Dunbar & Sons for donating the 2nd Prize of 4 vouchers for The Playhouse Theatre to the value of £200 and to John Lewis for donating 4 £20 Vouchers which, in the event, were shared between the two teams coming in 3rd equal. The prizes for Best Team Name and Booby, donated by a supporter of OASIS , the business outreach arm of St Cuthbert's, were, respectively, 4 bottles of wine and 4 boxes of M&S Liqueur Chocolates. In addition the winners of the 1st prize for the second year running were Standard Life who were presented with the coveted OASIS Quaich.
Huge thanks goes to St Cuthbert's for hosting the event and to their Catering Team of Maggie Barrons and Jean Watt for the delicious homemade soups, filled rolls, coffee, tea and biscuits, to the Church Officer, Euan Romanis and to Ben Williams for setting the questions, acting as Quizmaster and also photographer, to Maggie Romanis who assisted me as a scorer and, finally to our Locum Minister, Rev Suzie Stark, for introducing the evening and presenting the prizes.
Thanks to all who attended for supporting the event and for so generously donating towards the work done by Fresh Start to help the Homeless in Edinburgh.£270 was raised on the evening which is fantastic. Thank you all so much.
