Report on the Community Carol Service held on 19th December 2018 by Heather Gregg
Thank you to everyone who took part in the Community Carol Service at St Cuthbert's, on 19th December 2018; there was an excellent attendance, with many people staying behind to chat over the welcoming tea, coffee and mince pies served by the Hospitality volunteers at St Cuthbert's.
The Community Carol Service is a well-established annual event for those who live in our parish and all who work in the City Centre, organised by OASIS (part of St Cuthbert's service to the Business Community in Edinburgh) and in association with business matters and Work Place Chaplaincy Scotland. The Minister conducted the service, with readings and prayers by Biddy Kelly, Managing Director of "Fresh Start", Andy Gregg, Edinburgh City Centre Chaplain, Eric Smith of business matters, Mr Gardner representing the Western General Hospital and Heather Gregg, joint Administrator of OASIS.
The congregation enjoyed singing traditional carols and hearing how St Cuthbert's established a poorhouse which developed into the current Western General Hospital - currently celebrating 150 years of service to the community.
The retiring collection was for Fresh Start and raised the extremely generous sum of £477.
